Injured actress leaves 'Spider-Man' - Natalie Mendoza suffering offstage concussion. 'Spider-Man' actress gets injured and leaves Broadway. She is suffered from an offstage concussion during the first preview.
'Spider-Man' Broadway musical is being plagued with inuries. Actress Natalie Mendoza played the role of the sorceress Arachne. She is highly trained in classical theater and is also a musician.
Mendoza suffered a concussion on November 28 when she was struck in the head by the equipment. However, she did not report the accident to producers until November 30. Against doctors advice, she appeared in the second 'Spider-Man' performance that involved several flying sequences, including one in which she is spun upside-down.
The actress worked out an exit agreement with the 'Spider-Man' producers and will leave the show prior to it's opening in February 2011. The production of this show "is the most technically complex show ever on Broadway. It includes 27 aerial sequences of characters flying.
