Jackman’s 6,000 calorie diet program for Wolverine film role. Hugh Jackman’s diet consists of lifting weights and a 6,000 calorie program. The actor was seen Tuesday night with friends at the Havana Club in Beverly Hills, California.

Jackman currently weights 210 pounds. The actor is on an intense diet and participating in an extreme workout program. “It’s 6,000 calories a day. It’s rough,” he said in a statement.

Director Darren Aronfosky (Black Swan) wanted Jackman to look more muscular than he did in 2009′s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The actor is taking some major dedication to build muscle before the filming begins. He said that Wolverine is powerful and stocky in the comics, which makes a lot of sense.

“Darren said with the last one, ‘Hey you looked great, but you’re so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that’s not Wolverine.’ So he said, ‘I want you to go there, get bigger,’” Jackman explained. The movie will be the fifth series in which the Australian actor is portraying the wildly popular Marvel Comics character. It will be released in 2012.

No one knows what will happen to all that muscle after the filming. He will have to maintain what he’s added in weight.
