Kanye West and controversy go hand in hand, and now it seems Australian concert goers and Seattle grunge band, Sound Garden, are apart of the next chapter of the rapper’s issues.

At Australia’s biggest music festival, ‘Big Day Out,’ West was to be Sunday’s headline act. But when it came time for Kanye to hit the stage he was a no show for more then 45 minutes, irking the fans that stuck around for him to show up, and booed him when he did finally show up. There where also explicit chants to let Kanye know how displeased they were.

Then when he did go on stage he decided to do a sound check, much to the dismay of Sound Garden who where playing a set for fans at a nearby stage. West’s sound checks disrupted Sound Garden’s performance.

An angered lead singer Chris Cornell, stopped mid-set to say to the crowd, “Sounds like there’s children playing music there, retarded children, retarded as in ‘held back.’ There’s no other word for it.”

Now festival organizer’s defend Kanye by saying weather issues caused the delay. In a statement one organizer says, “Stop picking on Kanye - the technical problems that delayed his start time by 45 minutes were from rain damaging our equipment.”

For the first time the festival failed to sell out its tickets which was also blamed on the controversial rapper, when some questioned if he was a good choice to headline. again the organizer, defended the decision, “The fact that he had the biggest crowd of the day and delivered an incredible performance with the huge crowd staying to the end of set even though it was 45 minutes later than scheduled is a testament to what a great artist he is.”
