Actors Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are expecting their first child in the spring.
However, the engaged couple vows not to get married until California passes legislation legalizing same-sex marriage.
“We wouldn’t want to invite all of our friends who don’t have that right to celebrate us, who have that right. We just don’t feel right about that,” Shepard said on The View about getting married.
Bell, 32, is most popularly known for her role as Jeannie van der Hooven on the television series “House of Lies”, and her role as Annie in the movie “Hit and Run.”
Shepard, 37, played Charlie Bronson in “Hit and Run,” and he also wrote and directed it. He is popularly known for his role as Crosby Braverman on NBC drama “Parenthood.”
“This could have gone south in a hurry,” Shepard told THR about working with his significant other. “Directing your fiancee, there’s a pretty good chance that it could have blown up and ended our relationship, but for whatever reason we really liked it, and it was probably the best six weeks of the five years we’ve been together. Go ahead and throw up now.”
The soon to be parents began dating in 2007, and have been engaged since January 2010.
