Melissa Rycroft’s baby has arrived! The former “Dancing with the Stars” competitor and her husband, Tye Strickland, welcomed a baby son on April 20 in Dallas, Texas, weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces and only 19.2 inches long.

“This little guy has been teasing us about his arrival for the last month so it is only fitting that he surprise us with his arrival on Easter Sunday,” the 31-year-old entertainer said in a statement. “He’s perfect and beautiful.”

The couple are parents to 3-year-old Ava Grace, who will now experience being big sis to her new little brother, Beckett Thomas Strickland.

“Sooo…It’s official, the Strickland Family is growing by one next Spring!” Rycroft posted on Facebook in October. “Clearly excited to share our big news!!! A new little Strickland will debut this fall!”

“Ava can’t wait for us to bring him home to be able to show us all the big sister duties she’s been practicing,” she added.

Rycroft appeared on the 13th season of The Bachelor as one of the 25 bachelorettes vying for the heart of The Bachelor, Jason Mesnick. In the season finale, Mesnick chose Rycroft over runner-up, Molly Malaney, and proposed to her. A euphoric Rycroft accepted and said she was the “happiest woman in the world.”

However, following the episode, ABC aired the historic and world wide viewed After the Final Rose (Part One) episode, which was taped six weeks after the season finale episode. It was then, in a shocking moment for the Bachelor, and in front of millions of viewers, that Mesnick rejected, explaining he did not wish to marry her.

Rycroft was enraged and repeatedly demanded that Mesnick reveal what had “changed.” She would later reveal in her memoirs that the televised breakup was greatly humiliating.

Rycroft later revealed in her memoir that she had never loved Mesnick and had only participated on the show due to frustration with now husband Tye Strickland, as he had refused to commit to a permanent relationship.
