Morgan Freeman dead hoax on Twitter CNN news report. Morgan Freeman was a victim of a hoax on Twitter and is alive. The fake report duped countless online users.

Freeman was one of the most talked about topics on Twitter. A report was published that the actor died at his home in Burbank, California. The hoax was so real that CNN was mentioned in the message, and that too was a fake.

From that point, countless users used the "re-tweet" feature to send the report out again. "RT @CNN: Breaking News: actor Morgan Freeman has passed away in his Burbank home," the fake report said on Twitter. It was posted on Thursday evening and many people were sad. Confusion continued to spread as users re-published the breaking news.

This epidemic of re-tweets caused many to believe that CNN had posted the news, and others were simply passing it on. But CNN's Twitter account did not display the original post, leading users to wonder whether it had been deleted as a retraction, or was potentially hacked. The TV network sent out a tweet later to tell all Twitter users that it never made the Morgan Freeman report.
