After The Taylor Swift and MTV Video Music Awards incident involving Kanye West, in 2009, President Barrack Obama said the rapper was a ‘jackass,’ and still believes that even today.
The president was being interviewed by The Atlantic magazine, when he expressed his preference for Jay-Z over Kanye West, when it comes to music after being asked who he would prefer to listen too.
Obama went on to say “I like Kanye, he’s a Chicago guy, (He’s) Smart. He’s very talented.”
The reporter, David Samuels, then reminded Obama of when he called Kanye a ‘jackass’ after interrupting Swifts MTV Video Music Award acceptance speech.
Obama basically said yeah he still is that too. “He is a jackass,” said the president. “But he’s talented.”
Jay-Z and wife Beyonce who are close friends to the Obama’s have also been openly supportive of President Obama’s re-election bid.
The ironic part of the whole thing is that Kanye interrupted Swifts speech after winning the award for ‘Best Video’ in support of Beyonce’s video “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”, which he thought should of won, calling it “one of the best videos of all time.”
Aside from President Obama calling him a ‘jackass,’ West was critized for the selfless act by many other celebrities. He later apologized for his actions on ‘The Jay Leno Show.’
