Obama Pot - A bar patron offered President Barack Obama some pot, which he declined with a laugh. The substance is legal for recreational use in Colorado, but it’s still a violation of federal laws. The president moved quickly through the establishment as he chuckled.

Obama has made no secret of his past drug usage, owning up to smoking marijuana and using cocaine as a young man, including in his bestselling book, “Dreams of My Father.” The president has also had a semi-public battle with cigarettes, reportedly kicking the habit while in office.

“Obama stuck with a safer option, politically: a beer with Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper,” USA Today reports. The state recently made marijuana legal.

Earlier in the night, another local horsed around with President Obama during a street-side meet and greet. “One onlooker [who shook hands with Obama] wore a large horse head but it’s unclear what message he hoped to convey,” according to the White House pool report describing the unusual head gear. The report also mentioned spotting a “Free weed for Obama” sign among the crowd lining the street to greet Obama’s motorcade in Denver.

After a night out, the President returned to his hotel by 9 p.m.

President Obama has previously spoken of his regret dabbling in recreational drugs in his youth but just last week First Lady Michelle Obama had to rein him in as he joked about the delicious White House pies. “I don’t know what [White House Pastry Chef Bill Yosses] does-whether he puts crack” in our pies, Obama joked June 29 at a White House reception for LGBT Pride Month. But his wife spoke up to insist, “there’s no crack in our pies.”
