Paul McCartney Hacked By Tabloid

Paul McCartney Hacked - McCartney says that his phones were hacked by the “New Of The World” tabloid and plans to speak with authorities in London after he finishes his current concert tour in the United States.

The singer hopes to be speaking to investigators who are in charge of a probe. “I’m going to talk to the police because apparently I’ve been hacked,” McCartney said.

McCartney and ex-wife Heather Mills were intensely targeted by the tabloids during their relationship, especially as it started to unravel. McCartney’s voicemails to Mills have fueled many stories in multiple papers. When asked of the scandal McCartney responded, “I think it’s a horrendous violation of privacy.” He added “I do think it’s been going on for a long time.”

Mills met McCartney at a Pride of Britain charity event, and they were married on June 11, 2002. Mills gave birth to Beatrice Milly McCartney on in 2003. She separated from singer in 2006, which led to a highly publicized divorce in which she was awarded $24.3 million in a court settlement in 2008.

The News Of The World phone hacking scandal involves employees of the newspaper being accused of engaging in phone hacking, police bribery, and exercising improper influence in the pursuit of publishing stories.

Investigations conducted from 2005–2007 concluded that the paper’s phone hacking activities were limited to celebrities, politicians and members of the British Royal Family.

However, in July 2011, it was revealed that the phones of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler, relatives of deceased British soldiers, and victims of the 7/7 London bombings were also accessed, resulting in a public outcry against News Corporation and owner Rupert Murdoch.
