Samuel L. Jackson and Donald Trump are having a public feud on Twitter. It seems Trump started the fight on Tuesday stating that he doesn’t know the actor, nor has he ever played golf with him, but believes he does way too many TV commercials, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Trump was referencing an interview that Jackson had with United Airlines’ Rhapsody magazine, where he said that Republican presidential hopeful isn’t trustworthy on the golf course. Samuel stated that he golfs with Donald from time to time and that when asked who’s a better golfer, the actor responded, “Oh, I am for sure. I don’t cheat.”
“I have another person that can verify he knows me,” the actor said, adding that the real estate tycoon called him once to play golf with someone, without telling him who it was. When he showed up to the course, it was former President Bill Clinton.
Samuel L. Jackson says Donald Trump is a nice fellow, but didn’t treat him with the same respect. “Don did show up, and he took Bill in and bought him a jacket, and gave me nothing,” he said.
Samuel L. Jackson, who was nominated for an Academy Award in 1994 for his performance in “Pulp Fiction,” responded to Trump during an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Tuesday. In response to Jackson’s comments on Tuesday, Donald Trump tweeted again at the actor on Wednesday, writing, “I don’t cheat at golf but @SamuelLJackson cheats-with his game he has no choice-and stop doing commercials!”
Donald Trump followed up with a second tweet that said, “Don’t like @SamuelLJackson’s golf swing. Not athletic. I’ve won many club championships. Play him for charity!” Samuel L. Jackson has also said in the past that Trump billed him in the past at one of his clubs without his knowledge.
“But it’s funny — last week or so, I actually got a bill from Trump National Golf Club,” he said. “And I haven’t been there in four or five years, so I had my assistant call. They said it was for membership dues. And I said, ‘I’m not a member,’ and they said, ‘Yeah, you are — you have a member number.’ Apparently he’d made me a member of one of his golf clubs, and I didn’t even know it!”
Samuel L. Jackson denied that the pair could be described as “buddies,” and questioned the controversial Republican’s sincerity. “I don’t know what the Don’s up to. Interesting character. More P.T. Barnum than politician. I don’t think he believes half the things he says.”
Experts have looked at Donald Trump’s golf history to decide whether he is a cheater like many of his competitors on the course accused him of being. Trump often uses his Twitter account to slam 2016 White House rivals, but also to share his opinions, whether positive or negative, about celebrities or other well known people. In the past, he’s fired Twitter insults at other celebrities such as Rosie O’Donnell, Cher, and Russel Brand.
Asked who he’s endorsing, Samuel L. Jackson says Donald Trump doesn’t have his vote. This comes after Jackson said he’s moving to South Africa if Trump becomes president.
Anyway, Samuel L. Jackson’s choice is Hillary Clinton, whom he said already knows the job, and wouldn’t have as much of a learning curve as President Obama. He doesn’t think Donald Trump can behave well on the job.
“I’m forever a Democrat, you know, and I’m gonna vote for Hillary. Because, I mean, I love Bernie [Sanders], and Bernie’s a man of the people. But he can’t win. So I gotta cast my vote for a person that can keep those other people from winning, okay?”
Samuel L. Jackson is currently filming the King Kong reboot Kong: Skull Island and will be seen on screen in 2016 in the Stephen King adaptation Cell, as well as The Legend of Tarzan and Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children - scheduled for release on Christmas Day.
But it seems Samuel L. Jackson and Donald Trump are just teasing each other on Twitter. Their tweets don’t seem have a negative impact, and they’re far less insulting than what Trump has done in the past.
