Sharon Osbourne lost a tooth during The Talk, which was a dental malfunction with her implants. When the show returned after a commercial, she was yanking on her jaw during live television, according to Fox News. She had everyone laughing.

“Oh s***! My tooth is falling off … Oh no problem it’s one of those implants … And I spent a bloody fortune on this f***ing thing and it’s falling out. What do I do? No seriously has anyone got any glue? We have to take an emergency tooth break.”

The 62-year-old then went about trying to keep the tooth implant in place, but this being Sharon Osbourne, she couldn’t resist pulling the whole thing out during to give everyone her best smile, according to the New York Daily News.

Tooth implants, also known as dental implants, can fall out after a couple of years. They are supposed to be solid and permanent, but the placement is a loosely regulated area of dentistry. There is no special licensing required for dentists to be able to place implants, and there are dentists doing this procedure without adequate training.

When implants are placed initially, they can feel a bit loose since the bone hasn’t formed around the root to stabilize them. But if they continue to be loose after the healing period, they can be at risk to fall out. That’s similar to what we saw happening to Sharon Osbourne.

When Sharon Osbourne pulled the tooth out on The Talk, there are a few other reasons for this, according to People. Dental implants may be placed under stress before they are ready. It takes time for the bone to heal and form around the fixture. So if this is rushed, tooth implants can fall out.

What Sharon might also be facing is an infection. If any portion of the implant becomes loose, infection can be a serious concern. This may happen when bacteria and debris become lodged between the fixture and the tissues. This will weaken the bone and may cause the dental implant to fall out, as we saw happen to Osbourne.

Inadequate bone density could be a cause for the body to reject the tooth implant. Bone grafting can be used to build up the jawbone. But if a dentist is looking to save money, this critical element is sometimes skipped.

Sharon Osbourne’s television credits include a judging role on “America’s Got Talent.” Osbourne created and produced the cable reality series, “The Osbournes,” which starred her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, and their children, which won an Emmy Award for Best Reality Show in 2002. Her additional television credits include guest starring roles on “Will & Grace” and “Days of Our Lives,” among others.

She also hosted her own talk show, “The Sharon Osbourne Show,” and appeared on “The X Factor” in the United Kingdom. Osbourne’s career in the music industry has spanned over 30 years. But she has been though some controversy.

In July 2011, Sharon Osbourne and some of her fellow “The Talk” panellists were criticised for their conduct when discussing the story of Catherine Kieu. Osbourne described Kieu’s cutting off of her husband’s penis and then throwing it in the garbage disposal as “quite fabulous,” also laughing about the crime along with a number of other panellists and large portions of the audience. When cohost Sara Gilbert offered the counterpoint “Not to be a total buzz kill, but it is a little bit sexist. If somebody cut a woman’s breast off, nobody would be sitting laughing,” Osbourne replied by saying “It’s different.”

While Sharon Osbourne’s tooth recovers on The Talk, she has been referred to many times in popular culture, notes the Daily Mail. The popular British comedy Dead Ringers, features and spoofs Osbourne (played by Jan Ravens) quite prominently alongside her husband (played by Jon Culshaw). Osbourne was also spoofed by impressionist Ronni Ancona on Alistair McGowan’s Big Impression and was also featured in comedy 2DTV.
