Singer Sinead O’Connor, who spent most of her career with a shaved head, has changed her iconic image. In fact, you probably won’t even recognize her anymore. She has a new look and is totally different today.
She made headlines in 1992 after ripping up a picture of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live to protest sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church. The Nothing Compares 2 U singer is still performing. She has progressed with some weight gain and a new image.
O’Connor’s new image is actually cool. She sports a few tattoos and a black pixie haircut. When the Irish singer recently surfaced, most of her fans didn’t recognize her either at a musical festival in Bray, Ireland.
“Is this really Sinead O’Connor? I honestly can’t tell it’s the same person,” actress Candace Cameron Bure tweeted about the singer’s new look.
The photo above — taken in Manchester, England in July — shows just how different O’Connor looks from her heyday. Really, it’s not that big of a deal: O’Connor is 44 — metabolism slows down, family takes priority and keeping a smaller figure isn’t that important to everyone.
Basically, it’s not that big of a deal.
We won’t worry until her fantastic voice is gone — then we’ll really call for some sort of life change. Now? Not so much, but everyone does want to know what that green bracelet is O’Connor is wearing in the photo.By: Bill Waters
