Swell Season concert suicide, man jumps. A man who jumps to his death in an apparent suicide at the Swell Season concert. The band had just finished a song before the suicide.

Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office is treating the incident as a suicide. The man’s name hasn’t been released. Swell Season frontman Glen Hansard had just finished a song and was bantering with the crowd when the man was seen jumping from the roof. The man landed near Hansard.

Witnesses said Hansard put down his guitar and walked to the body as several people — including doctors in the audience — tried to revive the man. A doctor who was attending the concert reportedly declared the man dead. Concert attendee Kyle Rivers as saying he thought the man was part of the act at first, “And then he took off running and jumped, did a couple of flips and landed on the stage. It was pretty traumatic.”

“The band, crew and all involved with them are shocked and saddened by the death that occurred at last night’s show. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the deceased, his family and friends,” the band posted on its website. Police are still investigating the motive behind the suicide.
