Tamara Tunie swindled $1.5 million from accountant earning him Tony Award. Tamara Tunie becomes a victim as accountant swindled $1.5 million. Joseph Cilibrasi stole the money and sank some into a Broadway show that earned him Tony Award glory, prosecutors said.

Tunie, who plays medical examiner Melinda Warner on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," never thought she'd become a victim.

Cilibrasi worked for Tunie as her accountant and is accused of stealing $1.48 million from her as well as the son of violinist Isaac Stern.

"This is a case about a man so desperate for celebrity that he ripped off his entertainment industry clients in an effort to become just like them," Assistant District Attorney Pierce Moser told a Manhattan judge.

Cilibrasi used some of the money to bankroll several investments including the Broadway show "Spring Awakening," "Legally Blonde: The Musical" and the film "See You in September" with the stolen funds.
