Tory Burch is engaged to Pierre-Yves Roussel, the CEO and Chairman of the LVMH Fashion Group. Burch shared the news with a picture of her and Roussel and the caption, “We are tying the knot…#blessed #engaged #happynewyear,” according to People.
Burch, 49, has known Pierre-Yves Roussel, 50, for a few years now but they didn’t make it official until May of 2014. Tory has three sons with her ex-husband Chris Burch who helped her launch her now uber-successful global label.
She previously dated Lance Armstrong and music mogul Lyor Cohen. She was also married before to real-estate tycoon Harry B. Macklowe.
As Tory Burch gets engaged, she has built a hugely successful fashion empire in just under a decade. She has grown her company from a staff of fewer than 20 working from her kitchen table to 3,000 employees (80 percent of whom are women).
Celebrity fans of the brand include Rashida Jones, Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba, Jaime King and Oprah. Though analysts have been expecting her to take the company public for the last few years, according to her it isn’t happening any time soon. “I think being a private company is a luxury, and that is something I have always thought,” Burch said in a recent interview.
In addition to the main Tory Burch collection she recently launched a seperate sportswear line called Tory Sport complete with a pop-up shop on Elizabeth Street. A permanent Tory Sport location in the Flatiron District at 129 Fifth Avenue is expected to open in March, according to WWD.
“It’s not a trend, it’s a shift in the way women are dressing. Women are wearing sport clothes throughout the day and even into the evening,” Burch, the luxury brand’s current chairman and co-chief executive officer, said prior to the pop-up opening.
Her foundation for female entrepreneurs, The Tory Burch Foundation, also just launched its new website, which serves as a resource for women seeking career advice and insights. It also provides them with step by step guides on how to develop a business plan.
“We wanted to create a dynamic, interactive site that could not only serve as a practical toolbox but also be a constant source of important information for women entrepreneurs as they start and scale their businesses,” Burch said in a statement.
While Tory Burch is engaged, she also shared her New Year’s resolution. “My focus - throughout the year - is always working on the balance between work and family. It’s one of my greatest challenges every day, but no matter what, my boys and family come first. We like to do things together outdoors as often as possible, from long hikes and walks to skiing in the winter and summertime swimming, paddleboarding and surfing. This year, we plan to do more of it,” she wrote on the blog.
