Val Kilmer owes taxes $500k - IRS places lien on real estate. Val Kilmer owes $500k in back taxes to the IRS, according to a new lien. The lien was placed on the actor's property last month.

The actor's property in Sante Fe, New Mexico, is a 5,300-acre Pecos River Ranch that he's trying to sell for $18.5 million.

The "Batman Forever" star, who has lived in New Mexico for 20 years, originally put the ranch on the market for $33 million in 2009.

The IRS says Kilmer, who also starred in "Top Gun," "Tombstone" and "The Doors," never paid his 2008 income taxes, which totals $498,165.

It comes at a time when actor Wesley Snipes began a three-year prison sentence earlier this month for federal tax evasion.
