Vanessa Williams married Jim Skrip on Saturday in New York during a private ceremony with friends and family. The Fourth of July wedding comes after the couple dated for about a year, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Williams, 52, previously boasted about Skrip after meeting him during a vacation in Egypt nearly three years ago. Vanessa fell in love with Jim after their first date.

“You never know what you’ll find and where you’ll find it,” she said. “I was on vacation with my daughter going to Egypt, cruising on the Nile. I wasn’t looking for anything. I’d been alone for a number of years and divorced for 10 years at that time.”

Vanessa Williams married Jim Skrip at a time when she wasn’t looking to be married again. She’s been married twice before.

Williams was first married to her former manager Roman Harvey from 1987 to 1997, who she has three children with, followed by former NBA player Rick Fox, who she married in 1999 before divorcing five years later. Vanessa also has one child with Fox.

But after her “first three-hour date” with Skrip, the pair fell for each other and got engaged after just over a year of dating. Williams first announced she was getting married for the third time during an appearance on the now-canceled “Queen Latifah Show.”

“I just got engaged a couple weeks ago,” she gushed in September after Latifah pointed out the bling Williams was sporting. “You go across the world to find somebody who’s six hours away,” she added.

Williams met Skrip during a Nile cruise in 2013. Vanessa, whose mother is from Buffalo, approached Jim because he was a wearing a Buffalo Sabres shirt.

Family and friends were on-hand to watch the couple tie the knot before fireworks rang nearby. Just a few days before the ceremony, she teased her social media followers that she was going on a “road trip” for the holiday weekend.

Williams revealed the news of the engagement back in September when she showed off her stunning new piece of bling on the Queen Latifah Show. Vanessa explained that if it was time to try marriage again, it would be now.

“I got engaged. I have had a lot of good things happen while I’ve been on this lovely trip,” she revealed to Queen Latifah. “I turned 50 when we were in rehearsal on Broadway, I just got engaged a couple of weeks ago…It has been a lot of blessings on this trip.”

Vanessa Williams married Jim Skrip for love, and they have certainly showed it. It’s a cute arrangement because their wedding ceremony will always be remembered on July 4th.
