When the presidential assassin’s body was exhumed in 1981, his original coffin was auctioned. He was exhumed because his widow wanted to verify that it was him inside the coffin. She had problems for many years thinking that it was a government coverup.
The ambulance that carried JKF’s coffin was a 1963 Pontiac Bonneville. It went up for auction earlier this year. There are rumors that a museum in St. Augustine, Florida purchased it.

James Earl Ray allegedly shot and killed civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. However, the King family doesn’t believe it. The actual bathtub where he allegedly stood to take aim first went up for auction in 2004, but eBay took it down.

This next one isn’t all that bad. Two bottles of champagne thought to be nearly 200 years old were found in a 19th-century shipwreck in the Baltic Sea. They went up for auction.
