Homemade Wasp Trap

Homemade Wasp Trap - You can purchase a trap from the store, but these can be very costly, especially if you need more than one. A wasp nest can be fatal to some people who have allergies. We have some tips on how you can create your own homemade bait to get rid of the bees.

A homemade wasp trap is simple to make. Find an empty plastic bottle; one-liter and two-liter bottles work perfectly. Cut off the top 1/3 of the bottle, then flip the top part of the bottle upside down into the bottom half of the bottle.

The mouthpiece of the bottle should now be face-down, pointing to the feet of the bottle. You now have a funnel shape pointing into the bottle. Use a knife to puncture a few holes in each side of the bottle.

Next, run a string through both holes, and tie the two ends in a knot so you can hang the trap from this loop. Now you need bait, which is fairly simple to choose as well, most likely it’s already in your kitchen pantry.

Anything sweet-smelling will attract the wasps. This includes pineapple juice, syrup, fruit juice, or even sliced pieces of fruit. In early spring, wasps search for foods rich in protein, so adding a piece of slightly cooked hamburger to the trap will attract wasps during this season.

Adding a few drops of vinegar to the trap will keep honeybees away. Finally, pour about one inch of water into the bottom of the trap, and add a few drops of dish detergent. When the wasp enters the trap, it will not be able to figure its way out, will become tired, and fall into the water and dish detergent mixture.
