A cat is being hailed a hero for saving the life of a baby who was abandoned in a box on the streets of Russia. The feline climbed into the box with the infant and kept it warm, according to People. A hospital spokesman said the animal is now being hailed as a hero.
“The baby had only been outside for a few hours and thanks to Masha … he was not damaged by the experience.”
The little feline even meowed to get the attention of a passerby. As most people walked by in the cold, the animal continued to keep the infant warm and out of the weather. But one Obninsk city resident, Irina Lavrova, heard the cries.
“She is very placid and friendly, so when I heard her meowing, I thought that perhaps she had injured herself. Normally she would have come and said hello to me. You can imagine my shock when I saw her lying in a box next to a baby.”
The cat, named Masha, is looked after by local residents, according to The Inquisitr. When she found the baby, who appeared to be in great shape, she immediately took to him as if he were her own. Lavrova said it was her mothering instincts that took over.
“He was well-dressed with a little hat, and whoever left him here had even left a few nappies and some baby food.”
The child was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where he was given a checkup and declared fit and healthy, officials said. Since the child was found, Masha has been praised by local residents. Lavrova said the animal has been been reaping the benefits and rewards ever since.
“Everyone in the block is very proud of her … We have all spoiled her rotten by giving her her favorite food.”
There are other hero cats that save babies and children. As previously reported by NewsOXY, a dog was ready to attack while a toddler was riding their bike. The cat rushed out and scared the dog away.
