A Philadelphia toddler found wandering alone in Center City last night has been placed with the Department Human Service. The child’s parents, along with his 4-year-old sister, have since been located.

The toddler’s parents contacted police, reporting their two-year-old son was missing. The parents stated they had been kicked out of where they were staying Friday night and were spending the night in a Philadelphia park.

Authorities say the parents fell asleep when the young boy wandered off.

“He pushed the box open and, barefooted, walked on these rocks and went all around,” explains Michael Jones, the boy’s father.

The person who found the boy then took him to SEPTA transit officers at 15th Street Station around midnight Saturday. The Philadelphia toddler who was found wandering alone was then transported to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation.

People who spoke with NewsOXY about the incident had similar reactions:

“It’s heartbreaking. How did this child get out? I’m just happy that he was found.”

“Yea, that’s really sad.”

Both the boy and his sister have been placed with the Department Human Service.

No charges have been filed against the parents. A court hearing is scheduled for Monday.

“I don’t care if DHS takes the kids or not, as long as my kids alive,” Jones says. “God works in mysterious ways. Maybe this will benefit us in the long run.”

The parents say they are staying with a friend Saturday night. What do you think about the Philadelphia toddler who was found wandering alone in the middle of the night?
