Grandma Intruder: Shots Fired During 911 Call

June 13, 2021

California grandma shoots at an intruder who is attempting to come through her back door after grabbing her gun and dialing 911 as soon as she heard someone attempting to climb her fence.

Jan Cooper, 72, then says to the dispatcher that the intruder is trying to enter through a glass door — and that she can see the outline of his body through the glass, AP said.

On the 911 call, Cooper can be heard saying, “Back up! Back up you son of a b—-”, and fires the gun, narrowly missing the intruder.

“I don’t curse, but after I shot, rage took hold, and I just blasted away,” she told AP.

Cooper was home with her 85-year-old husband when the intruder attempted to enter their residence.

He is a Second World War veteran, who is in a wheelchair, and suffers with Alzheimer’s disease.

Suspect, Brandon Alexander Perez, 31, was picked up a shortly after. He was not injured by the grandma’s shot. Police records show that he has prior burglary and narcotics charges. Perez pleaded not guilty to these burglary charges.
