Pennsylvania Man Gets Arrested For 2 DUI’s In 1 Night

A western Pennsylvania man gets arrested for 2 DUI’s in 1 night. When 58-year-old Robert Brodnick, was arrested by state police the first time his blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit. However, 15 minutes after being released Brodnick was caught by the same officer driving his vehicle again.

Trooper Joseph Christy says troopers released Brodnick to the custody of a “responsible party” but say that person must have dropped off Brodnick at his vehicle because the same trooper who arrested Brodnick saw him driving again.

Brodnick had told local TV station WPXI, that he had only drank 2 or 3 beers and just wanted to drive his new vehicle home.

In the United States, law enforcement agencies made 1,467,300 arrests nationwide for driving under the influence of alcohol in 1996, compared to 1.9 million such arrests during the peak year in 1983. In 1997, an estimated 513,200 DWI offenders were in prison or jail, down from 593,000 in 1990 and up from 270,100 in 1986.

In addition to Brodnick being arrested twice in one night. Pennsylvania police arrested a man for driving his John Deere tractor down the road while intoxicated earlier in the year. In addition, a man arrested for his 3rd consecutive DUI showed up to court drunk.

The laws relating to drunk driving vary between countries and varying blood-alcohol content is allowed before a conviction is made. Since at least 2004, it has been illegal in all US states and the District of Columbia to drive with a BAC that is 0.08% or higher. Canada adopted similar laws in the 1990s.
