Sagging Pants Forces Judge To Send Man Directly To Jail

An Alabama judge who finds it disrespectful and distracting to wear pants low enough, that your undergarments are exposed, took action against one man who decided to step into his courtroom with sagging pants.

20-year-old LaMarcus D. Ramsey was appearing in court on Tuesday to enter a plea on a charge of receiving stolen property. However, Circuit Judge John Bush was displeased with Ramsey’s appearance, as he stood before him with his blue jeans hanging low.

Judge Bush told Ramsey that he was holding him in contempt of court and sentenced him to 3 days in jail for his disrespectful appearance. He then told Ramsey when he gets out of jail to go out to the store and buy a pair of pants that fit or a belt.

“To me it’s not any different than if someone stood up in court and started cussing everybody out,” Judge Bush said. “It’s disrespectful conduct and I think as judges we’re expected to at least have some degree of control and respect for the courtroom the people have given us charge of.”

The ironic thing about the low pants wearing fashion statement is claimed to have been started by prison inmates who would walk around the prison grounds with their pants hung low in order to advertise their sexual availability to other inmates, leaving us to wonder if Ramsey knew of this prison fashion statement before he was taken away.
