Haiti citizens have drafted Wyclef Jean into politics, and this time it might be President.
Wyclef running president Haiti rumors is not official. However, Wyclef Jean could be testing Haiti to find out if a bid to be President would be successful. Wyclef Jean was born in Haiti, which makes him qualified to become President.
Jean has been drafted into politics by the local people in Haiti. His foundation, Yele Haiti, released a statement that read: ‘Wyclef’s commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward.
The 37-year-old multi-platinum recording artist has stated, “I can’t sing forever.” Wyclef is the son of a Nazarene pastor, and he briefly attended Eastern Nazarene College. Wyclef moved with his family to Brooklyn, New York, before moving again to northern New Jersey. Jean has cited reggae artist Bigga Haitian as one of his early influences.
In 1994 Wyclef married Fusha designer Marie Claudinette. In 2005, they adopted a daughter, Angelina Claudinelle Jean. His uncle, political activist, journalist, and diplomat Raymond Alcide Joseph, has been the Haitian ambassador to the United States since 2005. The election for Haiti’s president will be held on November 28.
