Horse Boarding Extreme Sport. Horse boarding is for thrill-seekers and this new extreme sport is seen as a dangerous stunt. Participants are towed on a skateboard at speeds of up to 35mph.
Daniel Fowler-Prime, a professional stuntman, invented the sport three years ago after he strung a rope between his skateboard and a horse when he and his friends were hanging out on a farm.
Described as a cross between surfing and wakeboarding, participants stand on a skateboard while holding a rope and try to keep their balance as the horse is spurred into a gallop by its rider.
Fowler-Prime developed the stunt into a fully-fledged sport, opening the National Horse Boarding Training Centre in Seisdon, in central England. He even organised a championship, to be held this summer, that will see a race between two teams of one horse, one horse rider and one skateboarder.
“This is a fast, adrenalin-fuelled equine team sport,” said Fowler-Prime.”There’s a raw surge of natural power you wouldn’t get from any other sport, and the acceleration is explosive. A lot of skill is involved, and the horse rider and boarder have to work together because if they don’t, the boarder goes flying.”
Daredevil Fowler-Prime previously worked as a stunt rider on films including “The Da Vinci Code,” “Kingdom of Heaven” and “Vanity Fair.”
It looks like water skiing, except the riders are dragged on land.
