NFL star and Chicago Bears wide receiver, Brandon Marshall is revealing a secret that some players in the league are using the erectile dysfunction drug, Viagra, to get an edge on game day.

Apparently, there is an urban legend amongst the NFL alum’s that Viagra works almost the same as illegal PED’s and helps with their “performance” on the field.

Marshall says he’s heard of some NFL players using the drug, which is currently not on the NFL’s banned drugs list, to improve athletic performance.

“I know guys, it is such a competitive league, guys try anything just to get that edge,” Marshall told reporters this week. “I’m fortunate enough to be blessed with size and some smarts to give me my edge.”

Aside from helping with impotence, one benefit of Viagara and similar drugs would be the enhanced delivery of oxygen to the muscles, which also aids in hastening the body’s recovery from workouts.

Meanwhile, since Marshall’s revelation was announced, Viagra maker Pfizer is denying that the drug has any other performance enhancing abilities other then in the bedroom. Adding that though it is legal you still need a prescription for it.

The World Anti-Doping agency may agree with Marshall however, after the 2007 ban of cyclist Andrea Moletta, who was caught carrying Viagra and syringes.

“It clearly provides an unfair advantage, at least at altitude,” an expert leading the World Anti-Doping Association’s research told The New York Times.
