Urban Meyer To Become Ohio State Head Coach

11/26/2011 08:03 PM ET

Urban Meyer - Urban Meyer will be the next head coach at Ohio State University. Multiple sources have reported that the deal is done and that Meyer and OSU could make the official announcement as soon as Sunday.

The two-time national championship coach has denied that an agreement has been made for him to replace current OSU head coach Luke Fickell. But various sources are reporting that the deal is done. Meyer and OSU are just waiting to make the announcement after Saturday’s game.

A source inside the Ohio State athletic department told Scout.com:

“Ohio State and Meyer have definitely reached an agreement, and it is a done deal. The timing of the announcement will depend on the outcome of the game, and if Ohio State loses, it could come as early as Sunday. The coaches will learn their fate Saturday evening, or early Sunday morning. The announcement will be no later than Monday, barring anything out of the ordinary happening.”

ESPN reports that Urban Meyer, who was been working as an analyst for the station, will not be appearing on ESPN this weekend. Meyer apparently requested that he could take the weekend off (To celebrate? To sign contracts?) ESPN spokesman Mike Humes posted on his Twitter account:

“Urban Meyer won’t be appearing on ESPN this weekend. He requested off his studio assignment and we obliged.”

ESPN reports, according to unnamed sources, that Meyer has signed a seven-year, $40 million deal to coach at OSU, but Meyers insists that a deal has not been made. Before Thanksgiving, Meyers said:

“I have not been offered any job nor is there a deal in place. I plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family and will not comment on this any further.”

Do you think Urban Meyer is headed to Ohio State University?
