Bungie says goodbye to Microsoft

The decision for Halo 3 developer, Bungie Studios, to part ways with Microsoft was Bungie’s desire to return to its independent roots than making games solely based on the Xbox 360 platform.

This could mean that Bungie will move towards the Mac, or the PlayStation 3, or even the Nintendo DS platforms. The rumors of Bungie making more games for the Sony PS3 have been going on for quite some time.

Since the initial launch of Halo 3 on September 25, the game has earned more than $300 million.

Microsoft said they will continue the Halo series and their investment in the game property with Bungie. According to Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, they are already working with Peter Jackson on a new interactive series set for the Halo universe.
