I’m sure we all remember the cruise ship that was featured on the “Love Boat” popular sitcom on ABC, right? Well, according to cruise news site About Cruise Ships, the boat has been decommissioned and is docked at a shipyard in Turkey.

The ship is 42 years old and was named the Pacific Princess in 1975 until 2002. Since then, it’s changed owners a few times and has been docked in Genoa, Italy. It last sailed for Quail Cruises after being sold again.

“The vessel continued to gain worldwide notoriety as a backdrop for the ABC television series, which aired from 1977 to 1986. It’s the most famous cruise ship to date in Hollywood,” wrote Mike Wolfe, from news site About Cruise Ships. “The TV series was like free advertising for cruise bookings, which ignited year-round from the top-rated show,” Wolfe added.

The TV show starred Gavin MacLeod as Captain Stubing and Fred Grandy as Gopher.

So what’s the future for the ship?

“The Pacific Princess is one ship we’ll miss, and its scrap metal will be used for other ships to take passengers on new voyages,” Wolfe said.
