Tropical Storm Lisa
Report: Tropical Storm Lisa prompts warnings. Lisa is moving west as the tropical storm gets closer to Puerto Rico in the Atlantic. Forecasts show it moving toward the Central America coastline late in the week. The accompanying low could eventually lift back to the north-northeast toward Florida late next week.
The storm continues to drift to the west of the Cape Verde Islands. While it may briefly build to hurricane strength, it is forecast to stay over the east Atlantic waters. At 5 a.m. EDT, the center of Lisa was located near latitude 18.0 north, longitude 30.5 west. It is moving toward the east-northeast near 5 mph.
A slow motion toward the east and then south is expected during the next day or two. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph, with higher gusts. Some slow strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center.
