Atlanta, Georgia -- Bishop Eddie Long Allegations Include Seducing Men. Bishop Long has been accused of sexually abusing two young boys who attended his church. They allege that he abused his spiritual authority to seduce them with cars, money, clothes, jewelry, international trips and access to celebrities.
Lawyers for the men, now 20 and 21-years-old, filed the lawsuit in the DeKalb County Court. When the two men attended Long's church when they were 17 and 18-years old. "When the relationships started, the plaintiffs were past the legal age of consent in Georgia, which is 16, stated B.J. Bernstein, an attorney representing the plaintiffs.
Long is the senior pastor of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia. He first served as pastor in 1987 for a congregation consisting of just more than 300 members. Since his installation, New Birth's membership has multiplied to well over 30,000 members.
The prominent Bishop has denied all the allegations in the lawsuit. "We find it unfortunate that these two young men would take this course of action," Craig Gillen, the pastor's attorney stated. "Long had not yet been served with copies of the lawsuits," he added.
