Doctors deliver baby from mom who died in crash in Houston, Texas. The woman, who was pregnant, was being chased by her boyfriend before the crash. The couple got into separate vehicles around 2 a.m. before they both crashed their vehicles into a building owned by Donald Stanley, whose business lost power after the crash.
“I don’t know what to think. It’s terrible,” Stanley said.
They were heading south along the Beltway feeder when one vehicle hit the other. Both drivers lost control and slammed into the auto services facility. At last check, no charges had been filed.
“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” a witness said. “It’s quite disturbing.”
Doctors delivered the baby from the mom shortly after the crash. Monica Ramirez, 25, was thrown from the Dodge Ram truck. She was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition with a traumatic brain injury.
At some point while driving down the Sam Houston Parkway, both cars smashed into each other, launching them into an auto services building.
Doctors were unable to save Ramirez and she died a few hours after the accident. The newborn is in the neonatal intensive care unit. The boyfriend, 24-year-old Anton Aleksandrov, was treated and released from Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Ramirez got a protective order against Aleksandrov in August and accused him of kicking, stomping and dragging her, according to records. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation.
Doctors delivered the baby from the mom hours after the crash. The woman wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and authorities said that alcohol was believed to have played a factor in the wreck. The boyfriend is said to be cooperating with authorities.
