There are many humpback whales to see in Hawaii, but only one actually rams a boat of people watching them. At first glance, the whale lifted a fin, as if to wave as its observers. But then everyone noticed that there wasn’t one, but two humpback whales. Fortunately, there was no damage and no injuries reported.

Jennifer Nap, a boat passenger, grabbed her camera immediately as the group spotted the animals from the water. They moved closer to get a better view, but maybe it was too close. The mother turned toward the boat and slapped her large fin as people couldn’t believe their eyes.

Here’s the video:

As you can see from the footage, there were a lot of exciting people in that boat. Some were frightened by the contact the humpback whale made as she suddenly moved toward the watchers. One guy shouted: “This is so awesome!”

“As soon as she was done pushing us aside she dove under, then popped right back up on the other side with her calf,” Nap told GrindTV.

Getting this close to a whale is a lifetime experience with nature. You can tell that everyone was surprised on the video when the animal made its way closer to the vessel. These waters near Hawaii are warmer this time of the year, which attracts these whales to the area.

The area along the coast is popular among tourists who travel to the site to do their whale watching. There are several tour companies available, and the rates are reasonable. Most of these tours are about between 1 to 3 hours.
