Mont Belvieu plant explosion in Texas. Mont Belvieu police said there were no reports of injuries at a Houston plant after a fire erupted an explosion. Immediate evacuations were ordered Tuesday afternoon at the Enterprise Products site.

The plant erupted on Tuesday afternoon after a natural gas pipeline exploded. One Mont Belvieu maintenance contractor is unaccounted for. The fire occurred at the company’s west storage facility.

Rick Rainey, public relations director for Enterprise Products, said there are normally 8 to 10 workers in the facility. The plant stores liquids in producing natural gas and is located 35 miles east of Houston. All the workers got out safely and Mont Belvieu police say there are no reports of injuries.

“As of right now our main concern is to make sure that we get this thing contained,” Rainey said. Hours after the explosion, the plant continues to burn. Nothing that is burning is toxic,” he said. Pipelines were shut down but the liquids in the pipe are continuing to burn.
