Craigslist killer Philip Markoff has committed suicide, he was awaiting trial for the masseuse murder Boston.

Philip Markoff suicide shocks Boston lawyer. Craigslist killer Philip Markoff was allegedly responsible for the masseuse murder in Boston. Since the arrest, many of his Craigslist crimes have been brought to light.

Markoff was found dead of an apparent suicide in his jail cell. According to sources, the former med student, cut an artery in his leg and neck with a pen and put a plastic bag over his head. He was was awaiting trial for the murder of masseuse Julissa Brisman.

Since April 2009, he has been locked inside the Nashua Street Jail. He has been held there without bail since his high-profile arrest. He was being held in a single-cell bunk area where most of the homicide suspects are housed.

He was awaiting a trial on March of 2011 for murdering Julissa Brisman after answering an ad for a masseuse on Craigslist. Markoff is accused of meeting Brisman at Marriot Copley Place Hotel. While there, Markoff allegedly bound and shot her dead in the hotel's room.

The results of his autopsy have not been released. In a statement officials stated, "Markoff was found unresponsive in his cell and pronounced dead at 10:17 this morning" and that "he was alone in his cell and all evidence thus far indicates he took his own life." Markoff's lawyer stated, "I'm very shocked and saddened by the news."
