Ohio Road Sign ‘Norht’ Misspelling

A road sign on Interstate 71 is spelled ‘Norht’ instead of ‘North.’ The Ohio Department of Transportation will replace it with the proper spelling. Some people wonder why the road crew never noticed it.

Department spokeswoman Amanda Lee said the Strongsville sign, which advises motorists headed for Cleveland to take I-71 “NORHT,” will be “taken care of as quickly as possible,” The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported Wednesday.

Lee said the error was made by a contractor who will be responsible for replacing the sign. She said the error will be covered until the new sign is ready. In the meantime, drivers have the old sign to read.

With so many cars with GPS systems, the road sign probably doesn’t matter to travelers, whether it’s ‘Norht’ or North.
