Alyssa Milano Shut Down Television Host Wendy Williams About Mothers Feeding Children In Public Places

Alyssa Milano shut down Wendy Williams on her own show after what the host said. Milano championed her fellow breastfeeding mothers during her appearance after Williams admitted it makes her uncomfortable to see a woman nursing her child in public, according to Yahoo News

Milano, 43, who has become a “breastfeeding advocate” after sharing many photos of herself nursing on social media, said she was shocked by how opinionated people are about “something that is supposed to be so incredibly natural.” But Alyssa learned that Wendy, 51, who has a teenage son, is one of the people who believe it should be kept hidden.

“I don’t need to see that,” Wendy told her. “Because, I just don’t want to.” However, the actress, who has a 16-month-old daughter Elizabella, and a four-year-old son Milo, wouldn’t accept that explanation as an answer.

That’s when Alyssa Milano shut down Wendy Williams as she went on to argue her point by asking the host: “But would you eat under a blanket?” Wendy Williams then explained, “What I would do is I would go to the car.”

But Milano couldn’t accept that as an answer. “You would go feed your baby in the car?” Alyssa asked in shock. “Not on the bench in the front of the big box store,” Williams responded. Alyssa went on to ask Wendy why it is OK to show a photo of Miley Cyrus wearing only two suspenders covering her breasts, but it’s not OK to share images of nursing mothers.

“I don’t know why I feel this way,” Wendy said of her discomfort. “Breastfeeding is only a particular amount of time. The rest of your life, your breasts are sexual things,” Williams said. “But biologically, they’re not made for sexual things. That’s what we’ve done to them,” Alyssa Milano argued.

Wendy Williams went on to shut down the actress by labeling breasts as “fun bags.” but she admitted that she knows her opinions about breastfeeding aren’t the normal. “You’re lucky the baby’s not here. I’d whip ’em out right here and feed her on your show!” the actress joked.

And while they both stuck to their stances, the exchange was fairly cordial. Earlier in the segment, Wendy complimented Alyssa on her new pixie haircut, which she said she gotten done “right before the holidays,” and spoke to her about she lost the baby weight. “I always take my time losing the baby weight because there are so many more important things to be going through,” Alyssa said. “But here is the deal, as far as like Hollywood making me feel like I needed to lose the weight, I didn’t feel that pressure,” Milano added.

The mom went on to say that she did feel a personal pressure to lose the weight because she wanted to fit into her old clothes, which she said are “pretty fabulous.” “I think I wore my maternity jeans until the baby was like nine months old,” she with a laugh. “I was 172lbs the day I gave birth to Elizabella, which was exactly what I gained with my son.”

Milano, who said she gained about 55lbs with each pregnancy, said she lost the first 25 to 30lbs by cutting carbs and sugar. However, when her weight loss plateaued she started following the Atkins diet and has been eating high protein meals with healthy fats every since. “I have been doing Atkins ever since and I am about five pounds away from my goal weight, which is great,” Alyssa said.

The subject of breastfeeding that caused Alyssa Milano to shut down Wendy Williams came up after the TV host shared a recent photo taken from the actress’ Instagram account. The pictures shows Milano nursing her daughter. The host noted that the image caused a controversy because “a lot of people thought it was way too much.”
