Police are looking for the person or persons responsible for setting off two bombs at the Boston Marathon finish line; so far, 2 people are dead and approximately 70 are injured.

A senior U.S. intelligence official said two other explosive devices that were found nearby have been dismantled. This official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the findings publicly.

There has been no word on a possible motive for this outrageous attack. The two bombs exploded about two hours after the serious runners crossed the finish line on the north side of Boylston Street. This world premier marathon brings an average of about 20,000 runners to Boston yearly. In 2011, there were 26,895 registered participants at the Patriots’ Day event.

Roupen Bastajian, a 35-year-old state trooper from Smithfield, R.I., had just finished the race when they put the heat blanket wrap on him, and he heard the first blast.

“I started running toward the blast. And there were people all over the floor,” he said. “We started grabbing tourniquets and started tying legs. A lot of people amputated. … At least 25 to 30 people have at least one leg missing, or an ankle missing, or two legs missing.”
